GPL had (has) a lot of editable parameters for the ai with each driver having his own characteristics, agression, skill, etc. in a number of different situations. Added to this the cars were all different abilities, handling and reliability which all together led to some far more entertaining ai battles.
It seems with LFS that each one is identical but a little bit (1 or 2%) slower than the one in front, so if they don't make silly errors they just string themselves out in a long line and there are no real battles.
that is unless you mix up the cqar marquest a bit, but then there are seldom close enough marquest to give a good battle.
I'd like to see each ai have its own parameters, 'personality' and attributes so the faster ones had to balance out greater risk and tyre wear as well as mechanical erosion.

I don't think you are right, as far as I know there is nothing in the ai race coding that allows them to register the line you take when driving. Sadly, they just don't care about you.

Take the original dds texture file and double its size, so 512 x 512 goes to 1024 x 1024. Then on the new bigger image redo all the texture areas fom the beginning, adding your own ones. Save it back as 1024 size and you have a higher res interior.

Excellent work, Mr_X, really nice skin!

So do the AI learn about stuff like tyre temperatures? I thought they were oblivious to it, like pitstops and tyre wear.

LFSworld stores the 1024 versions but only sends the 512 versions to your computers

[OT]What was that really wide track adapted from an airfield in the US? Cleveland, I think, was featured in an old Papy nascar sim IIRC, then a version of it appeared for GPL, or was it EA's F1? My memory fails me.
Anyway, it was an interesting track to race as it was so wide, you could get 5 abreast no problem down the straights, some good, close racing there.[/OT]

Try loading in a different setup for them, see if that alters their laptimes much.

Yep, I've played around a bit with this. Tell me, do you find any improvements based on getting them to use different setups?

Enough of this nonsense! It's a good quality innovative skin and I will be wearing it with pride later tonight when I try to avoid finishing last at Fern Bay.

This needs a bit of calming, it's a good rational debate, lets not allow a few o/t rant posters drag it into the rubbish bin please

Note: for all non-brits whinging about exchange rate issues, none of you have been supporting any 'additional money' for the devs, they still get exactly the same £££'s each time no matter what the exchange rate. It's still up to the individual to choose whether to spend their money on it or not.

What poll?
Actually I'm happy to pay the current price for the current content.
It's sort of like saying: "As you've paid £1.00 for a bag of 5 oranges, would you pay £1.20 for a bag of 6?"
Well I would but I've already got 5 thanks so i don't need any more at the moment.
I have run out of milk though.

I like the Album covers theme, but it should be the first ever album you bought. This could be interesting/embarassing

Green = you
Yellow = ahead
orange = behind
blue = a.i.
Red = race leader
That's enough for me, any more than that is just too confusing for my tiny brain.

I guess I've been playing for over 20 years now since a small lad. I have been teaching guitar (rock and folk stuff) for about a year and also building my own electrics, doing setups for people, necks, pickup upgrades, custom circuits, fret dressing, for ages, only recently people have been giving me money for doing it, which is nice.
I've played bass in Jazz bands as well as heavy rock, lead and rhythm guitar in pub covers bands, all sorts of stuff really over the years, some time in a studio with a band recording a CD of their own stuff (played bass on that - very nerve-wracking).
I've got about 15 guitars at home now, of which 6 are made/assembled by me. I'd love to have a go at a good quality acoustic some time.
I basically love everything to do with guitars, playing them, teaching them, fixing them, tweaking them. If anyone has any repair or setup work they want doing and they are in my area please drop me a pm!
